I thought my story started out very different to so many... a life-changing event and a second chance at life from a 'mystery illness'. Only now, have I started to learn that my mystery illness had a name... a name that if known would save so many lives. SEPSIS.
I speak to so many, who haven't heard of sepsis and didn't know that this was what turned their life upside down and left them or their loved ones fighting for life. Sepsis is your body's overreaction to infection, it can happen to:
Anyone
From any infection
At any time
Sepsis is responsible for 1 in 5 deaths globally and it leaves lifelong scars. So how do we stop sepsis?
Prevention is always key. Just remember SEPSIS.
Slurred speech or confusion
Extreme shivering/fever/pain
Passing no urine in a day
Skin mottled
It feels like you're going to die
Severe breathlessness
