Intention of these resources

The resources listed here are patient-developed to support the sepsis community and are not intended as medical advice.

These resources have been developed with consultation from many to support early community detection, awareness and better post-sepsis support.

Using the FACE sepsis acronym as a checklist of considerations, they focus on early recognition and patient-focused post-sepsis support.

The resources are to be used to support early recognition of symptoms, emphasise escalating care and encourage following sepsis pathways.

Sepsis experiences vary. Each sepsis experience is unique.

We acknowledge the need for resources for post-sepsis loss, to be developed in partnership with families impacted by sepsis loss.

Sepsis can be in anyone at any time from any infection, Always do what is best for your patient and seek urgent medical care.

The Why...

Following Caitlin's experience of septic shock from a dental infection and work with the sepsis community of patients, families, healthcare workers and researchers...

She recognised a need for patient-led resources focused on early escalation of sepsis in primary care and post-sepsis patient support.

FACE Sepsis is an acronym to explain the checklist of considerations for patients that may have sepsis and can also be used when considering what their needs are post-discharge.

FACE Sepsis is a simple checklist that stands for:

Changes/ Check vitals
Escalate care
